On Saturday, June 14, pilots Gary and Beth McCarten will provide free airplane rides for children through the Young Eagles Program (weather permitting) at the Jefferson Airport. The Young Eagles program is the largest youth aviation program in history. It has flown over 1,300,000 kids on six continents. Actor Harrison Ford is chairman of the EAA Young Eagle program program and is a Young Eagle pilot himself. Each child who rides must have their parent or guardian fill out a registration form prior to flying.
Jefferson airport manager Rob Miller (M&M Aviation) will give free rides to adults who would like to see the community from the air. Miller also said there is a strong possibility that they will have vintage aircraft at the airport on display.
