Jefferson Telephone & Cablevision is proud to sponsor the Bell Tower Festival June 13-15. As an active community proponent, the festival is a way to showcase our community and the positive things that we have going on for Jefferson alumni returning to the area and all community individuals.
This year, Jefferson Telephone & Cablevision is excited to announce the addition of a text message contest on Saturday, June 14, from 1-3 PM on the square. Text messaging or “texting” is the common term for sending short messages by a cellular phone to another user. In the U.S. over 18.5 billion text messages are sent per month, with the majority of the users being between the ages of 18-34.
Jefferson Telephone will have a booth on the square where the competition will be held. Registration is free and will take place at the booth on the afternoon of the event. Interested participants can come anytime during 1-3 PM to partake in the contest. All ages are encouraged to participate with up to four contestants at any one time. Jefferson Telephone staff will time participants as they text a message less than 160 characters on a cellular phone provided by Jefferson Telephone. All contestants who follow the rules posted will be entered into the competition for prizes that will be awarded at 3:30 PM on the 14th. The winners will be determined by those with the fastest times. The grand prize will be a Motorola MOTOROKR and second prize will be a Kyocera E1000!
Over the past five years Jefferson Telephone & Cablevision has sponsored the X-box tournament, but it was decided to make a change to this year’s event. Sean Schiltz, Jefferson Telephone & Cablevision US Cellular representative states, “We are excited to change this year’s sponsorship to a text message contest where all ages can participate. At after prom for the high schoolers in April we had a text message contest that was well received, therefore we decided to move ahead with adding the competition to the Bell Tower weekend festivities.”
Jefferson Telephone & Cablevision staff hopes that there will be a positive turnout for the new text messaging contest whether you want to come watch the event or partake for yourself be sure to stop by the booth from 1-3PM on Saturday, June 14th.
